The 5 Fashion Staples for Autumn I Can’t Live Without

In this blog article, I look at the 5 fashion staples for autumn that I can’t live without. I hope it gives you some ideas and inspiration for what to wear this autumn.

Autumn weather is slowly creeping up on us, which means one thing—it’s time for some more layers.

The transition between summer dresses and knit sweaters is a big one, however, this wardrobe transformation is also your chance to bring a breath of fresh air into your life.

It’s time to get cosy, light a few candles, and start wearing some wonderful autumn wardrobe staples.

Here are my favourite five!

The Oversized Denim Shirt

Starting off with one of my top seasonal must-haves for autumn, the oversized denim shirt makes for a perfect extra layer to protect your skin from those cool winds, create stylish layers, and keep any outfit looking fresh and effortless.

Its casual yet elegant look gives it a timeless appeal, and what’s more, an unbuttoned denim shirt easily brings out the uniqueness of the dress or top underneath.

As far as bottoms are concerned, tucking your shirt into a pair of well-fitted jeans will radiate elegance,(opt for differing denim wash for that perfect double denim clash, while wearing it over a satin slip dress or skirt will help you achieve a more casual oversized look.

The V-neck Plunge Knit Sweater

Of course, a list of autumn-style staples wouldn’t be complete without a signature knitted sweater.

What makes the v-neck plunge knit sweater so alluring is that it not only can create a very streamlined silhouette but it can also create flattering layers when teamed with vests and camisoles underneath – perfect if you are fuller on top.

Moreover, a plunging neckline can elongate your torso and by adding the right accent of jewellery, make an elegant neck stand out. A double win!

The Structured Blazer

Ladies, listen up! Autumn is the best season for blazers, so this is your time to shine.

A tailored blazer that fits right on the shoulders and has a slight flare cut, can be styled with almost anything and season elevates any casual look from day to evening, boosting your style confidence, and allowing you to exude I-mean-business energy!

While a checked blazer paired with a plain fitted roll neck will break up block colours or all over monochromatic looks, a simple black blazer teamed up with flared jeans is a simple and classy choice that never disappoints.

The High-waisted Cropped Jeans

High-waisted jeans have very much been on-trend years now, and they are probably here to stay for quite a while.

No wonder! The way they define the waist and elongate the torso is extremely flattering, so if you want that effortless chic look, high-waisted cropped jeans are your best friend. (As soft pear-shaped woman, I’m a huge, huge fan of this style as they are an excellent way of accentuating my waist).

You don’t have to opt for anything super cropped if you don’t feel comfortable or not a fan of your ankles – but by just breaking up the length of your jeans with a little skin showing – you can make your jeans work so much harder in your wardrobe, as you’ll be able to team them with practically any pair of shoes you have! Not only that but these jeans can be paired with an incredibly versatile range of tops, including all the autumn wardrobe essentials mentioned in this article.

The Shoe Boot

Finally, the shoe boot is one of my most important style tips for autumn because they can keep your feet warm and covered, while adding some mystery and sleekness to your outfits. Like the perfect transitional item for your feet.

Whilst a high-heel boot makes your legs look longer and slimmer, you don’t need high heels to achieve elegance – a simple ankle boot will do the trick.

And the best part? Shoe boots work well with almost everything, from dresses and midi skirts to cropped jeans and mom-style shorts . Do aim for a block heel if that’s more your style, however my favourite styles are the stiletto heels, as they are just right side of casual chic and can look effortless teamed with everyday, relaxed pieces.

Final Words

My favourite thing about these five fashion staples for autumn is how functional they are—you can wear them on a daily basis and feel comfortable and confident at the same time.

And there’s nothing better than reaching that sweet spot where comfort and great aesthetics intersect.
