Jack Of All Shades – Master Of One

Jack Of All Shades - Master Of One 1

Summer is finally here (yay!!!) and for me there’s no better time to really embrace outfits that inspire, captivate and shine!

Ever since I met the wonderful Jules Standish, Image Consultant and author of How Not To Wear Black; the importance of understanding which colours on the spectrum truly complement your skin tone and the psychology behind those colours has fascinated me.

There are so many elements to consider when you have your colours analysed. What are your true colours? Which personality traits are attributed to your season and are inherent to your perfect colour palette? Which colours really make your inherited skin tone look bright and vibrant?

I’m a true Winter, so my undertone is cool; therefore having more dramatic, contrasting and vivid colours in my wardrobe is the way to go. These darker, cooler tones are my TRUE colours and will always be the predominant colours for me to coordinate with, flatter my skin tone and transform my look.

However, I have been known to inject bold, intoxicating bolts of clear, bright warmth to my looks every now and then, hence this wonderful A-line long jersey dress I picked up recently.

Orange is the colour of energy, desire, warmth, cheerfulness and confidence and I couldn’t resist!

I wore this wrap dress to Sunday brunch with the girls. The dress had two key features which worked perfectly for my soft pear body shape; a narrow belt for that lovely added detail that created a defined waist and a higher neck line to create a touch of volume to my top half. Made from smooth stretch-cotton jersey, it was incredibly comfortable whilst keeping me cool in the scorching heat wave!

So, as the weather heats up – know your colours, embrace the tones that make your skin pop, and as every one of us is unique, don’t be afraid to experiment every now and then and let your colourful personality shine through!
